Homestead, PACharlie Batch & the Best of the Batch Foundation are excited to announce the launch of their new C3 (Campbell’s Cyber Center) Computer Lab expansion. The C3 (“C-cubed”) Lab expansion was made possible through a generous donation by William “Bill” V. Campbell and the Campbell Community & Education Foundation (CCEF).

The CCEF donation consists of new Apple hardware, including: 40 iMac computers; 20 MacBook Air computers; 30 iPad Air tablets and three Apple TVs.

The new C3 Lab expansion will allow the Best of the Batch Foundation to continue its efforts to provide a state-of-the-art technology, resource and educational center in support of their ‘Steel Valley School District Alternate Education Program,’ a seven-year partnership between the SVSD and the Batch Foundation. The Program, located at the Best of the Batch Foundation’s ClubHouse Corner, provides at-risk students the opportunity to improve their educational and behavioral standing through coordinated lesson plans and community work at the Batch Foundation offices & computer lab, with the goal of transitioning back into their schools.

With the addition of the new C3 Campbell’s Cyber Center computer lab expansion, the Batch Foundation is able to provide additional resources in their tutoring, mentoring and study hall programs, and now has the capability to work on-site with more than 80 students at a time. The new C3 Lab also allows for expanded assignments and lesson plans, and the integration of those assignments into mobile devices, schools and other off-site locations.

“We are so appreciative of the generous gifts made by Mr. Campbell and his Foundation,” said Charlie Batch. “His long-standing dedication to our mission has been key to our ability to provide our students with the best possible educational opportunities, and with this upgrade in our technology, he has given us an enormous boost in our efforts to help students succeed.”

One student who has participated in the Batch Foundation’s SVSD Alternate Education Program, affectionately calls the program the “Charlie Batch School,” and said: “Without this place, I probably would not be going to school; or I’d be expelled by now. But I’m seeing how teachers and Charlie Batch do care about my future, and that makes me want to do better.”

The Campbell Community & Educational Foundation enhances community environments along with strategic development for the educational advancement of students. Steel Valley native, William “Bill” Campbell has served on the Board of Directors for the Best of the Batch Foundation for a total of eight years, with the past two as Board Chairman.

“We are thrilled, and extremely proud, to play a part in providing upgraded technology and scholarship opportunities for students and the community in the Steel Valley area at the Batch Foundation’s ClubHouse Corner,” said Campbell. “This is a much-needed resource center that will assist students, along with their teachers and families, to achieve educational goals and will help give them expanded opportunities to prepare for their futures.” Currently, the Best of the Batch Foundation works with more than 2,300 kids annually in five counties in the Pittsburgh area.
